The manager is the one who really speaks english ( and some french) like many hotel in Vietnam. He cares about his customers. Many cats to entertain our children during transition. 2 minutes from the square where you can meet Hmong people (minority) and book a homestay directly with them. By the way, we recommend a homestay at "May" place. You can find her at the square most morning around 8:00 am. She has a great hart living with her disabled (severly) son which we had a good time. Family of 6 traveling on a gap year from Montreal, Quebec!
The breakfast is somewhat sub-standard compared to similar priced hotel we've been in Vietnam since our 3 weeks travelling there.
Very nice hotel with good location and with excellent staff. Special thank you to hotel manager Manh Nice View from the apartment for the nice price
NOTHING ... Weather > Before you will go to SAPA check the weather first. If is it bad forecast chose another days to come.
The Auberge Dang Trung Hotel has a very good location close to the main attractions in town. Staff is very helpful specially the owner help us a lot with everything. we arrived very early at 6 am and they give us a room after we had breakfast. The owner booked for us the mini bus to Lao Cai and invite us to have dinner before we leave. We really appreciate all his attentions and kindness. We really recommend this place to anyone who visit Sapa.
Price, location, express check-in/check-out.
We stayed at this hotel only for a few hours while waiting for our driver to take us back to Lao Cai in the Superior room no. 406. Yet we were happy that we did not have to stay for the night. The facilities missing were air-conditioning, toiletries, mountain view. Although fairly clean for this price, the room was more than run-down. There was no lock or even a handle in the bathroom door (just a see-through hole). Funnily, once inserted the bathtub plug could not be removed, so I am really sorry that we did not let the water out of the tub (haha!). The towels were more than damp and had disgusting yellow stains on them. The bathroom in fact reminded of some scary movie with obscure lightening and holes in the ceiling and a weird mind-blowing sound coming from somewhere that hummed almost all the time with short breaks (it could be heard everywhere in the room). The shower handle was broken with water spilling sideways. And since there was nothing separating the bathtub from the rest of the bathroom we ended up with everything around covered with water. The room was heavily scented but when we ventilated it a bit we could feel the smell of dampness. Despite the very low price for which we booked the room there are certain basic standards that have to be observed, so the hotel was more than a mere shelter for a sleepover.
